Single, Dual and Triple-Row Pin Headers: Density, Power and Mating Stability
Row count is a structural choice
1×40P and 2×20P have the same pin count but different width, guidance and pin loading. A long single row peels from one end; a dual-row rectangle mates more squarely and lets you place ground pins for a short return path.
Single row: breakaway and jumpers
2.54mm 40P single-row strips are often broken to length for Dupont wires and debug ports. Above ~20P with frequent mating, dual row or screw retention is more reliable.
Dual row: the industrial default
2.54mm dual-row 10P / 16P / 20P / 40P matches box headers, ejector headers and IDC ribbon. Stock and lead time are usually better because female headers and IDC housings are dual-row as well.
Triple row and above
Triple row packs extra power or shield pins into a limited width. Mating parts must share the same row count. Treat pinout as a controlled drawing, not an afterthought.
Junjia supplies 1–4 row headers. Share the power/ground map at RFQ so we can place high-current pins where temperature rise and mating force stay even.
