Pitch comes first
A pin header looks simple, but pitch decides mating, current and PCB real estate. If pitch is wrong, pin count, insulator height and plating cannot rescue the design: the female header and IDC cable will not fit.
Junjia’s highest-volume pitches are 2.54mm, 2.00mm, 1.27mm and 1.00mm. Larger is not automatically better, and finer is not automatically more advanced — each pitch maps to a different job.
Pitch comparison
| Pitch | Typical pin dia. | Reference current / pin | Typical use | Process window |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2.54mm (100mil) | Φ0.64–0.80mm | ~3A | Dev boards, power, appliance control | Most forgiving for THT, hand solder and wave |
| 2.00mm | Φ0.50–0.64mm | ~1–2A | Security, industrial signals, smart home | Balance of density and current |
| 1.27mm (50mil) | Φ0.40–0.46mm | ~0.5–1A | Comms modules, display boards | Signal-oriented, not for heavy current |
| 1.00mm | Φ0.30–0.40mm | ~0.5A or less | Compact consumer SMT | Needs tight placement and coplanarity |
A fast decision path
- Current first: power, fans and coils prefer 2.54mm; multi-channel signals can drop to 2.00mm or 1.27mm.
- Density next: 40P on a narrow board often exceeds 2.54mm width — evaluate 2.00mm dual row.
- Assembly last: prototypes and wave solder favor 2.54mm; automated reflow and height limits favor 1.27mm/1.00mm SMT.
- Mate as a set: pin header, female header, box header, ejector header and IDC ribbon must share the same pitch.
What Junjia supplies
Junjia pin headers cover these pitches in 1 to 4 rows, straight / right-angle / SMT, with custom pin length for board thickness. Send current, pin count, mounting style and the mating part for a series recommendation.
