Pin and Female Header Applications: Board-to-Board, Power, Debug and Modules

Draw the interconnect, then pick the header

Pin and female headers show up in PCs, appliances, cars and PLCs. The useful split is by job, not by industry slogan. Junjia’s core pitches are 2.54 / 2.00 / 1.27 / 1.00mm for GPIO, UART, auxiliary power and removable modules. 0.4mm floating high-speed BTB and >400V interlock connectors are different families — do not stuff them into one SKU.

Where they actually sit

  • Industrial: VFD control-to-drive/sense boards, PLC I/O, DAQ mezzanines. Drop from 2.54mm to 2.00/1.27mm when area is gone.
  • NEV low-voltage electronics: BMS slaves, OBC aux, MCU signal boards at 12/5/3.3V and CAN. Pack main loops are not pin-header work.
  • Appliances and lighting: display-to-control, short LED driver-to-light-board stacks; long exits prefer wire-to-board.
  • Security and gateways: MCU stacked on Wi-Fi / 4G / Ethernet modules — dual-row SMT.
  • Lab and line: programming, ICT adapters, fixtures — plating life beats cosmetics.

Later articles in this series cover dense stacking, high current in NEV LV electronics, industrial modules, appliances, fixtures and gateways. Pitch, height and plating remain in the earlier selection notes; these pages only answer what the port does in the machine.
