Female Header Contacts: Mating Force, Dual-Beam Design and Life

The spring is the product

Housings are PA6T, PBT or LCP; contact resistance is set by the phosphor-bronze beam. Too little normal force leaves films in place; too much wipes gold off and opens the cavity.

Single beam vs dual beam

  • Single beam: lower cost, fine for consumer and low cycles; more sensitive to pin position.
  • Dual beam: clamps both sides, better in vibration and misalignment. Total insertion force rises with pin count — check that operators and solder joints can take it.

Cycle life follows plating

Tin sockets are often designed for a few dozen cycles; gold is required for high cycle debug ports. Test full travel, not a partial chamfer engagement.

Junjia female headers use phosphor-bronze contacts with tin or gold. Ask for force or life data with the target standard and cycle count at RFQ.
