Prefer a box header when

  • Cost and height dominate, and the cable is strain-relieved.
  • Long levers would hit the lid.
  • The interface is assembled once for life.

Prefer an ejector header when

  • Cabinets, servo drives or inverters see vibration.
  • Field techs swap cables.
  • The ribbon hangs and gravity unmates the plug.
